Additional Helpful Information About Traveling in Mexico

Cash/Currency: The unit of currency in Mexico is the Peso (MXN). As of September 19, $1.00 U.S. = 19.262 MXN, or 1 MXN = $0.052 U.S.
The U.S. dollar is widely accepted in tourist areas and large cities across Mexico. However, you may need Mexican pesos for transactions in rural areas, local markets, and with smaller vendors. Always insist on knowing whether a price is quoted in MXN or U.S. dollars.

The hotel accepts American Express, Visa and Mastercard. It’s always good to advise your credit card company when you are traveling abroad.

Climate: Playa del Carmen/Cancun enjoys warm temperatures, ranging from an average high of about 80F in winter months to 94F in the summer. Water temperatures average about80F.

Electricity: You will not need a converter or transformer but just a travel adaptor, because Mexico operates on a 127V supply voltage, which is within the 110-240V range, and the frequency is 60 Hz.

Water: Secrets Moxché has a water purification system in place, ensuring that the water at the resort is safe for guests. It meets international standards for health and safety.

Internet Service: Complimentary Wi-Fi internet available in your room and common areas

Time Zone: Playa del Carmen, Mexico is in the Eastern Standard Time Zone. It does not observe Daylight Savings Time.

Language: The de facto national language of Mexico is Spanish, which is spoken by 90% of the people.

Medicine: Always carry prescription medication in the original container and keep them in your carry-on bag. If you wear eyeglasses or contacts, you should pack an extra pair.

Medical Insurance: We recommend checking your medical insurance to verify you are covered for medical emergencies, treatment, hospitalization and evacuation while abroad as not all insurance covers travel emergencies. You may wish to purchase additional medical insurance for the trip.
